November 20th, 2020: One Topic, Many Texts

How to differentiate in the ESL classroom… That is the question.

No need to have multi-age or intercycle groups to talk about differentiation. Heterogeneity is present within all ESL group, regular or intensive.

There are easy ways to differentiate, without requiring too much investment in terms of time from you.

During this workshop, we will discuss a simple and effective way to differentiate in the ESL classroom. Via only one (simple) subject, I will show you that more than thirty text forms can be produced by elementary students. Each of them will be defined and exemplified for cycle two and cycle 3. An idea for a task to do in class, and a suggestion for a final task production will also be suggested.

After having explored the main document (digital format), participants will be invited to put into practice what they have learned and created tasks and/or examples to use with their students.
